Want to get more out of your kitchen? Why not add some features starting with drawer hardware that will help your kitchen serve your needs.
When you move into a new home, the kitchen is usually a standard set-up - right to the drawer hardware and appliance handles. After all, when a home builder is putting together plans, they don't know who will end up living in the home, so they generally want the rooms to be welcoming to anyone.
Now that the paperwork is signed and this is your space, there is no reason it has to remain a generic kitchen. Making your kitchen your personal space may be as simple as adding a few unique storage options and finishing touches.
First, you can make any cabinet set suit your personality by adding new cabinet and drawer hardware. You will be amazed at how much of a difference a few drawer hardware pieces will make. Taking out that generic pull or knob, and adding a colorful or unique piece of cabinet or drawer hardware, will take you a long way towards a kitchen with character.
If you are a wine connoisseur, you may notice this new kitchen space is not wine-drinker friendly. Luckily one piece of under cabinet or drawer hardware can take care of that for you. There are a number of wine racks that can be attached to the bottom of a cabinet or shelf. Some of them can hold bottles. Others will be a place to store your wine glasses.
Some kitchens have cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling. While all that storage space is nice, it's not always easy to see what's in the back of those upper shelves, unless you install three-tier organizers. These offer a step-shelf system so the items in the back sit higher than the ones in front of them, making it easier for you to spot what you need.
If cooking is your passion, you need to have all your pans, serving ware, and other items easily accessible, and need the space for quite a few of them, so you are never in a cooking instrument shortage. Instead of stacking all these items on shelves and having to dig through the stack to get to the one you want, you could take a deep drawer or storage cabinet and install separators. These separators will allow you to put the items away sideways, and not have to tangle with the tower of pots and pans that may want to tumble over as you try to pull the bottom one out of the stack. These dividers are easily made of pieces of plywood that can be tacked into the back of the cabinet, creating a series of vertical walls.
If you hate putting the sink sponges and scrub brushes on the back of the sink, but can't find a good place for them, think about that cabinet panel in front of your sink. You may have noticed it doesn’t have any drawer hardware, and seems to just be there as an accent. But why not use that space? You can add a piece of drawer hardware and turn that panel into a tilt-out tray to hold your sink cleaning implements.
